Marcelo Leppe: Doctor en Ciencias Biológicas. Paleobiólogo. Doctor en Ciencias Biológicas de la Universidad de Concepción. Director del Instituto Antártico Chileno (INACH). Su investigación se centró originalmente en la flora triásica del suroeste de Gondwana, pero ahora sus esfuerzos están en el estudio de las conexiones entre Sudamérica y la Antártida durante el Mesozoico (principalmente Cretácico) y el origen de las biotas del sur de Sudamérica. Leppe es el representante chileno en el Comité Científico sobre Investigación Antártica (SCAR).

La Terra è coperta d’acqua. Le foto dallo spazio ci mostrano un pianeta splendente grazie alla luce del sole riflessa dall’acqua degli oceani, dai ghiacci e dalle nubi. Da dove viene tutta quest’acqua? Nel sistema solare l’acqua è presente quasi ovunque. Le lune ghiacciate di Giove e Saturno contengono grandi quantità di acqua sotto uno spesso strato di ghiaccio mentre le numerosissime comete che popolano le parti più remote del sistema solare sono grandi blocchi di ghiaccio sporco. Potrebbero essere state loro a portare l’acqua sulla Terra?
