The film takes place in a movie studio. A stagehand named David (Chaplin) has a supervisor, Goliath (Campbell). Much of the film is slapstick comedy involving Chaplin manhandling large props, but other plotlines include a strike action by the stagehands, and Purviance, who is unable to become an actress, dressing as a man and becoming a stagehand. The first Eagle-Lion film stars Kenny Delmar as Senator Beauregard Claghorn, his "Allen's Alley" resident-character heard on Fred Allen's radio program. Claghorn was a blustery, one-man-Chamber-of-Commerce for all things Southern, who had no tolerence for anything north of the Mason-Dixon line, although he made allowances for South Philly. Una delle serie a tema supereroistico più divertenti in circolazione. Dissacrante, molto ironica e ben girata. Purtroppo ci sono i superpoteri. Purtroppo.

Al Cinema si fanno sempre le cose in grande, e c'è una grammatica comune a moltissimi prodotti, così come l'uso di strumentazione ormai iconica. Ma che succede se, in nome della sperimentazione, certe "tradizioni" vengono accantonate per un po'?
