¿Quiénes son los indígenas de El Salvador? Ser indígena en este país es ser pobre y con escasas oportunidades de desarrollo.
Y, aunque el Estado ha pretendido mejorar la condición indígena después de siglos de intentos de eliminarlos e invisibilizarlos, para ellos su prioridad no es mantener viva una lengua ancestral o sus costumbres, sino apenas mantenerse vivos.
Uno de los casos de despojo de tierras indígenas más paradigmático en el país es el de las comunidades nahuas de Los Izalcos, en el departamento de Sonsonate.
