Water-borne diseases, such as dysentery, are rare and most tap water is so clean it can be drunk without the danger of falling ill. Research on underwater mud volcanoes

The oceans are home to 90% of life on earth, which is why it is essential to study their functions. That is precisely the aim of the HERMES project (Hotspot Ecosystem Research on the Margins of European Seas) initiated under the Sixth European Research Framework Programme. Arnold Hertlog and his wife Huguette have always loved tending their garden in the small Flemish town of Saint Armands, far from Brussels. Animal Health policy: EU seek new options

There are 53.000 birds on this Limburg chicken farm in north-west Belgium Here,there are no cages, the chickens are free to come and go as they wish to lay their 50,000 eggs a day in the best possible conditions. Running the chicken farm are Hilde Hendricks Verbeek and her husband. Three years ago the poultry on the farm, located in an area affected by bird flu was totally destroyed.
